While I couldn’t find an export option, I find it hard to believe it can’t be done, because Pierre has added so many thoughtful features. I would suggest taking a look at InfoQube if you haven’t. If you want to play around with some enriched version of OPML and maintain the additional data, you should try out TreeLine. Notecase and most programs will ignore the additional data when importing (and will NOT save it back when exporting). One note: OPML is a fairly simple XML format, and some programs will add to it more data than it natively supports. I now combine it with the web service which can also import and export OPML. I have used in the past extensively along with the Symbian Projekt outliner in my smartphone and it worked wonderfully.

It works on Windows, Linux and Mac (and an Android version is on the works), is constantly developed and well supported. I strongly recommend Notecase Pro discussed here in the past under various occasions. I’ve find some that do parts (e.g., one can export opml, but can’t import it, while another uses a python program to convert OPML into it’s native format). Except for one product which appears to be abandonware (the OPML Editor from ), I can’t find one.

I’m looking for a Windows (not web based) outliner, ideally 1 pane, that handles OPML files (the outline markup language) natively, either using it itself, or importing AND exporting in it. All you need to do is to import the file into your newsreader and you’re set to go.Please Recommend a Windows Desktop OPML Outliner

People can download the file and import it into their feed reader. Once you’ve created an OPML file you can send it to others or post it online. My present feed reader, allows me to import and export OPML files. PinĪlthough I could’ve used an OPML editor to create this file, I used my RSS reader. This information appears for each feed in my OPML file.

In the screen snap below, my file shows the folder name, feed name, and feed URL. All the files include markup tags that vary based on content. You could share with friends a list of your top 10 bloggersĪs I mentioned earlier, OPML files can be used for many types of outlines so you may see different structures than my RSS listing.Families could produce a list of their photos, websites and local news.System administrators could have a list of security feeds.Bargain hunters could share a list with their favorite coupon feeds.A sales team could share a list of the competitor’s feeds.Book clubs could share a file containing book review feeds for their members. You just need to collect the RSS feeds you love. These lists could be work-related or some hobby you enjoy. You can probably think of several lists where you would like to share information with others. OPML files made the process consistent and efficient. This reduced steps for them and ensured everyone used the same feed list. Rather than having the reviewers add 11 RSS feeds, they could import this OPML file. For example, when I did my RSS guide, I suggested people import an OPML file to test their RSS readers for features. For me, the beauty comes in the ability to share RSS feed information. OPML is versatile format developed by Dave Winer that can be used for many things. I think a better representation is “ other people’s meaningful lists”. It’s used for describing outline-based content like articles and playlists. Have you ever browsed the web and seen a reference to OPML? If you were to look up the abbreviation, you would see it stands for “outline processor markup language”. Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Reddit Facebook Pocket Email Hacker News
